The Course

The course is certified as accurate by the SEAA and is mainly flat and fast, starting from Tankerton slopes and going out eastwards via Swalecliffe to Hampton Pier at the Western End of Herne Bay. Runners then turn back along the promenade and finish close to the race headquarters at the Waterfront Club.

The route is described more fully as follows:-

Start: On Tower Hill, approx. opposite to Park Avenue;
Marine Parade (in the direction of Herne Bay); Veer left on to Marine Crescent; Keep left on path that leads to promenade (between beach huts); Turn right on promenade; Keep right, passing sewage works; Turn right off the path into Plough Lane; Turn left into St John's Road; Turn left into Seaview Caravan & Chalet Park; Continue to Coast Guard Cottages; Turn right (past the last cottage) on to grass section; Continue into Daytona Way; Continue into Worseley Avenue; Continue into Bentley Avenue; At Hampton Pier Avenue, turn left; Continue in the direction of the pier, until access to promenade (on the left); Turn left on to promenade; Continue along the promenade to finish;
Finish: Before the barrier (at Continental Hotel/Waterfront Club).
